Blinded Veterans Association of the Heartland

The Heartland Regional Group of the Blinded Veterans Association (BVA) provides services and membership activities to our fellow blinded Veterans residing in Kansas and Missouri. The BVA is the only Veterans Service Organization with a Congressional Charter to enhance the lives of Veterans with severe visual impairments. As the BVA’s affiliated chapter for Kansas and Missouri, we uphold our proud legacy by ensuring visually impaired Veterans possess a peer support network and quality healthcare services at our local Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers. We achieve this objective by:

  • Advocating for services and benefits for Blind and Visually Impaired Veterans
  • Providing peer support programs for Veterans and their families to live independently
  • Eliminating barriers related to blindness
  • Supporting our VA medical centers by volunteering with blind rehabilitation and other services
  • Ensuring our voices are heard by serving on local, state, and VA boards and councils

We understand that identifying, contacting, and receiving services is a daunting task, so we encourage anyone with a question to contact us. We will help you decipher and obtain the help you and your support systems need to cope with blindness. Assisting in this process, we encourage you to review the information posted throughout our website. In particular
